Two days ago, four cars on the Grant Campus were vandalized via black spray paint outside of Captree Commons. The incident occurred Monday night as part of a larger spree of spray paint attacks that occurred in Brentwood and Deer Park.
According to a campus brief from Executive Dean Donna Ciampa, 2 cars were tagged in the neighborhood right outside of the Grant Campus, one incident occuring on Heywood Street and the other on Stockton Street. Another 3 cars were spray painted at the Deer Park Train Station–10 minutes away from the Grant Campus. The Third Precinct of the Suffolk County Police Department believe the same perpetrator is responsible all three incidents.
According to Captain Edmund Berwick, the head Public Safety Officer on the Grant Campus, two students reported their cars being spray painted, along with the two cars next to them which are unknown to belong to students or faculty. All three incidents occurred between the hours of 5:30 PM and 8:15 PM.
Whether the incident was captured on security cameras is still under investigation according to Captain Berwick.
The incident is still yet to be recorded to the Grant Campus Daily Crime Log.
