Suffolk County Community College has issued a warning notice to students and faculty following a reported fondling incident on Monday, October 14, 2024, marking the third such case of inappropriate contact on the Michael J. Grant Campus this semester. A female student reported that an unknown male touched her buttocks without consent while she was walking between Captree Commons and the Sagtikos Building around 3:15-3:30 p.m. The suspect fled the scene immediately after the incident.
This follows two earlier lewdness incidents, where a suspect exposed his genitals to a college employee. The suspect in those cases was described as a thin, tall black male with short dreadlocks or braids, between the ages of 17 and 20. The first incident took place on September 3 in the STEM Building, and the second occurred on September 19 in the Asharoken Building.
In the recent fondling case, the suspect was described as a black male, 23-24 years old, with facial hair, wearing a white shirt, brown belt, and white Apple headphones with a wire. Public Safety has not commented on whether these incidents are related.
Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Public Safety at 631-451-4242 or x311 from any campus phone. Students and staff are urged to remain vigilant and take precautions by reporting suspicious activity and using the college’s Rave Guardian app for emergency responses. For immediate assistance, contact Public Safety or dial 911 in case of emergency.
