With Mother’s Day being just a month away, I will be teaching you guys how to make the easiest pastry to share with that special mother figure in your life – Mother’s Day Pastries.
Ingredients:
- 1 package premade pie dough
- 1/4 cup fruit preserves (I recommend Bonne Maman Strawberry Preserves)
- 1 large egg (for egg wash)
- 1 tbsp milk
- Flour
Tools:
- Large heart-shaped cookie cutter
- Mini heart-shaped cookie cutter
- Fork
- Pastry brush
- Baking sheet
- Parchment paper
First, dust your counter with a little flour to prevent anything from sticking. Then, take your premade pie dough and place it on the counter. Take your large heart-shaped cookie cutter and cut about eight hearts. This will make four pastries. Then, take your mini heart-shaped cookie cutter and cut a heart in the center of the four larger hearts.
Now, take your favorite fruit preserves. I recommend Bonne Maman Strawberry Preserves. Add a dollop to the center of the four hearts you didn’t cut the smaller hearts into. Now that you’ve added your preserves, take the pie dough with the hearts cut into them and lay them over top of the ones with the preserves. Take your fork and gently seal your edges shut. Place it on a large baking sheet, line it with parchment, and place your pastries – leaving two to three inches of room between each one. Next, crack your egg into a smaller bowl, add your splash of milk, and whisk it. Then. take a pastry brush and brush over the top each of your pastries. Bake in the oven to 425°F for 10-15 minutes. Once you plate it, you can serve it for Mother’s Day!
